Welcome to the 2019 CRAM sailing season!

New members and returning members alike, I want to sincerely welcome you to our 2019 CRAM Season. First off, I’d like to thank Uli Gollwitzer for his leadership, enthusiasm and commitment to CRAM as Commodore the past two seasons. Additionally, I’d like to thank each CRAM officer and member who has worked hard over the years to make our organization the success it is today. Your commitment to CRAM, to our members and to catamaran sailing is inspiring and truly appreciated.

CRAM is a healthy, vibrant, growing and fun organization because of the tireless work and commitment of our past officers and members. I look forward to working with our 2019 officers and all members to build upon theses successes.

This year will be CRAM’s 54th season of sponsoring and promoting amateur sailing. CRAM is one of the premier sailing organizations in the country. Where else can you go to spend quality time with a diverse group of active and fun loving individuals, enjoy the best beaches anywhere, have the venues setup when you arrive, learn to sail catamarans or refine your sailing skills with awesome world class sailors, have race management taken care of with safety in mind and enjoy an awesome sailing weekend with family and friends. Welcome to CRAM 2019. Let’s sail and have fun.

Last Saturday we had a very productive Spring CRAM Officers meeting in East Lansing. The 2019 CRAM Racing Schedule was confirmed and can be seen on our website at https://cramsailing.com/regattas/schedule. I’ve also attached the 2019 Race Schedule to this letter. Our schedule is a good one and includes some iconic sailing locations. Each year CRAM strives to successfully manage and conduct our Race Schedule. I invite you to make plans early, register early online for our regattas and make early accommodation reservations for our 2019 season. Accommodations fill up and you don’t want to miss the fun.

CRAM Officers also agreed on three organizational goals that we’d like all members to collectively focus on during 2019. Develop, Deliver, Drive, our collective 2019 CRAM Goals include:

  1. Develop Support Structure for New CRAM Sailors

  2. Deliver 2019 F18 North American Championships on September 14-19 at Grosse Pointe Farms, MI

  3. Drive CRAM Membership Growth

I’ll provide added information on the above goals in my next letter in a couple of weeks.

Our first CRAM regatta of the season is two months away at Higgins Lake, MI on June 1-2, 2019. So let the fun begin. Here’s how:

Last but not least, let me thank all our 2019 CRAM Officers and members who are working hard to plan the new season. CRAM is doing very well. We have many new and young members who are holding officer positions and showing their motivation to help. We also have our seasoned officers back who are instrumental to CRAM’s success. Our officers find time in their busy lives so that you and fellow CRAM members can have fun on the beach and on the racecourse during the summer. It’s a lot of work and well worth it. Thank you all.

I’m excited because a new CRAM season is upon us. We get to renew friendships, make new ones and create memories together sailing catamarans. Let’s have some fun. Thank you again for supporting CRAM. See you soon on the beach, on the starting line or around the venue at our next amazing CRAM regatta
