Krista Paxton Female Sailor Award

This trophy is in honor of Krista Paxton, whose cheerful spirit lit up our CRAM community from the moment she joined in 2012. Her radiant smile, unwavering positivity, sassy character, and legendary infectious laughter (which often could be heard even amidst the chaos on the race course)… all these traits are unforgettable.

An accomplished sailor, Krista’s achievements include the 2013 US Women’s Matchrace Championship, victories in the Port Huron to Mackinac and Key West races, and multiple regatta wins alongside and against her husband, Uli Gollwitzer. She competed in three F18 National Championships, and she played a pivotal role as Co-Chair of the 2019 F18 North American Championships where she produced an event that still resonates with attendees today.

But perhaps Krista’s most impressive victory was her sheer determination to continue passionately sailing during and after undergoing breast cancer treatments and surgeries. She fought bravely on and off the water… until the day she left us for uncharted territory before New Years Eve 2022.  Krista Paxton is a warrior in every way.
