2021 is shaping up to be another sick year! We have nine events planned which include us trying a new venue in the upper peninsula at Saint Martin Bay near Saint Ignace. We are returning to eight awesome venues which start out with Higgin’s lake in a couple of weeks. Our second event will be at North Cape Yacht club and then at the end of June we will be trying something a little different which I’m going to call operation “spread the wealth”. CRAM will be present at two different locations on two different sides of the state on the same weekend. We are excited to once again work with Hobie Fleet 126 to host our Hobie 16’s at Michigan City for a fantastic Hobie 16 class event on Lake Michigan. All other classes will be hosted at Crescent Sail Yacht Club for racing on lake Saint Clair near Detroit. 

In the middle of summer we are kickin’ it up with what I’ll call the “Steph Curry”, three threes in a row. Three consecutive three-day events. Our traditional Caseville regatta, followed by Saint Martin Bay, wrapping up with our only event on the western part of Michigan in Manistee. The latter two events will run in a format that will allow for flexibility regarding Friday participation. We know those vacation days are valuable and we want to reward those that can make it with additional sailing and not penalize those who cannot. BUT, please try to make it. :) 

Bringing up the last third of the season is Port Sanilac to wrap up August followed by Michigan City 1.5 and the season wraps up with the return to Tawas Point State Park where mother nature has blessed us with a launchable beach once again. Our officers are doing their part to help us all have another kick ass season. Please thank them when you have the chance. 

COVID-19 is still a thing, many of our venues have rules, regulations, and guidelines that we HAVE to follow. Please keep in mind that when you are at these venues that you represent something larger than your personal feelings on this matter. Please respect the rules of the venue. We will be discussing the specific details for each venue prior to each event. Look out for emails, posts on social media, or maybe even smoke signals. We will be increasing efforts to go paperless and doing as much as we can digitally. Everything from registration, to results, to event updates and the CRAM store we will try to make online as much as possible.This effort is in parallel with our efforts to reduce our environmental footprint as much as possible by working towards generating zero waste at our regattas. We are working to keep the website and social media pages up to date so please check in on cramsailing.com and the facebook page often. 

I’m excited to sail our planned venues and to see new faces, old faces, and the faces in between. I’m looking forward to hearing the stories, sharing the laughs, and everything else that comes with the CRAM season. I’ll be a limited participant at the first few events as I wrap the spring soccer season which consists of about 40 games in 10 weeks but we are well covered.
